Halloween Night

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

I have done three Halloween Nails for you today. I hope you are able to enjoy them before the holiday is over. This is the first chance I have had to sit down and share them with you since today was a work day. (We are not having "Pink Wednesday" this week since Halloween falls on a Wednesday this year.)

The first set of nails is Bizarre Blurple from the China Glaze Wicked Collection with Boo!, an iridescent, shiny topper from Whimsical Nail Polish by Pam. I wasn't sure I was going to like this at first because it dulled the color a bit. But after I got it on all the fingers and it dried, I loved it. See what I mean...

I like the ghostly quality that Boo! gives the polish.

I used:
OPI Ridge Filler
China Glaze Bizarre Blurple
Whimsical Nail Polish by Pam Boo!
OPI Top Coat

The second set of nails I did were Candy Corn nails. I know this is not an original design, but I have never done it before so I wanted to try it. I got the inspiration from CutePolish's YouTube video.

I used:
OPI Ridge Filler
OPI Alpine Snow
Americana Bright Yellow
Americana Bright Orange
OPI Top Coat

The final set of nails for this Halloween season is a polish from KBShimmer's Halloween Collection called Jack. It is a black jelly polish with orange and black glitter in it. It is striking and when I saw it I just had to have it!

I used:
OPI Ridge Filler
KBShimmer Jack
OPI Top Coat

I hope your Halloween is a good one!

Sparkling Saturday - Wicked

I started a new job recently and it has put me behind in everything else including this blog. So I am posting my "Sparkling Saturday" nails today.

I am gearing up for Halloween with this display of Wicked from Whimsical Nail Polish by Pam. According to her it is inspired by the advertising poster for the show "Wicked". It looks good on, but I'm not afraid to admit it was a bear to apply! I think the bigger glitters have a hard getting on the brush and staying there. After just stating that there was never a polish by Pam I didn't like, I found one. This is definitely my least favorite.

I used:
OPI Ridge Filler
Whimsical Nail Polish by Pam Wicked
OPI Top Coat

Here are the rest of the participants designs:

ABC Nail Art Challenge - E, F, & G

Sunday, October 28, 2012

This the last post were I am catching myself up from the time when I was sick during this month. This time you get three posts in one, although I'll admit to taking it easy on two of them. Today I am catching up on the "ABC Nail Art Challenge" and I have "E", "F", and "G" to show you.

E is for Expresso Your Style! by OPI. This one of the first polishes I ever bought. It is a deep brown with purple undertones. It is a real eye-catcher.

I used:
OPI Ridge Filler
OPI Espresso Your Style!
OPI Top Coat

Here are the other participants designs...

F is for Flower Child. This is another one of the Whimsical Nail Polishes by Pam. I love her polishes. I have yet to come across one that didn't deliver. They are always just as dark and glittery as promised in the advertisement pictures.

I used:
OPI Ridge Filler
Whimsical Nail Polish by Pam Flower Child

Finally, this weeks design. G is for Green! I took this design from a Robin Moses video and she took it from a wallpaper design. I like how the design goes beyond the nail as if it could go on forever. I like the colors too.

I used:
OPI Ridge Filler
Julep Maven Courtney
Ceramcoat Black

China Glaze's Wicked Collection - A Review

Friday, October 26, 2012

I am excited for Halloween this year! Some polish companies have created collections just for this holiday and China Glaze is one of them. I'm going to review China Glaze's Wicked Collection. This collection has something for everybody, the person who is dressing up scary, cutesy, sexy, or funny.

They are (from left to right): Cast a Spell, Make a Spectacle, Immortal, Roguish Red, Glitter Goblin, Ghoulish Glow, and Bizarre Blurple.

Cast a Spell: This has been a very popular polish for China Glaze this month. It is a deep green with a hint of black in it. It very much reminds me of what a witch would have brewing in her cauldron! It is a shimmer polish and goes on in two coats.

Make a Spectacle: Is a iridescent white/clear polish. I am sure it is supposed to make you think of ghostly creatures. I used three coats of this just because I wanted to be sure there was enough glitter on my fingernails. But I think you could do it in two.

Immortal: This is a gray polish. It makes me think of tomb stone gray! It's got a little bit (just a little bit) of shimmer to it and it also went on in two coats.

Here is Make a Spectacle over Immoral.

Roguish Red: This is a bright red with a hint of orange in it. It looks like the wearer has been dabbling in blood! It goes on easily in two coats and is a creme polish.

Glitter Goblin: This is a fun glitter polish! It has micro-glitter of all the major color groups and just jumps off the nail! It took three coats to cover the nail. But it was worth it! It looks fabulous!

This is Glitter Goblin over Roguish Red.

Bizarre Blurple: This is my favorite color of the collection. I don't know why, but this dark blueish-purple only comes around this time of year and I love it! I got a t-shirt for Halloween this year with a black cat (I'm a cat person if you didn't know) that is this color. It went on in two coats easily. It is a creme polish.

Ghoulish Glow: This is a glow-in-the-dark polish. It will make any color you wear glow-in-the-dark when you put it over it. I tried it on Bizarre Blurple and used a black light to help me take the picture.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween...not to mention scary!

Spicy Dreams Collection - A Review

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Today I am reviewing Jessica's Fall Collection, Spicy Dreams. I am so excited because I love all of them. It is so different from the ordinary collection that has one each color in it. They are all of from the warm brownish family. I loved each one more than the last as I put them on!

They are (from left to right): Crimson Tattoo, Gingersnap, Champagne Bubbles, Cinnamon Kiss, Pumpkin Delight, and Brown Sugar.

I'll start out saying I love the formula on all of them. This is the first time I have ever used Jessica nail polish and they are great! They all covered easily in two coats and were not streaky nor did they leave patches of nail with little polish. Not only did I love the colors, I loved how easily they went on!

Crimson Tattoo: Is a dark, deep red. It looks almost brownish-black when you get two coats on. It is a creme polish. (I had a foggy spot on my lens in all of these pics sorry about that. I didn't want to have to go back and redo the polish though. Please forgive me.)

Gingersnap: Is a shimmery yellow-brown with red and gold micro glitter in it. It is striking on! It really does remind me of a gingersnap.

Champagne Bubbles: This is one of my favorites from this collection! It is an an off-white shimmery polish. It is stunning!

Cinnamon Kisses: This is a unique color. It is a shimmery red-brown. If it catches the light just right you see just red. Well...you see what I mean...

Pumpkin Delight: This is a shimmery orange-brown with red and gold micro-glitter in it. I even thought this was pretty and usually don't care for orange polishes.

Brown Sugar: This is my favorite of the collection. It looks like you have dipped your fingers in milk chocolate! It is so rich and delicious looking! It is a creme polish.

This is my favorite collection I have reviewed so far. I think the colors are gorgeous!
