ABC Nail Art Challenge - P is for Penny Talk

"P" is for Penny Talk

I had an occasion to get dresses up, so I decided to match my nails to my outfit. I was wearing a black dress and I found this really neat glass necklace that had some copper and black swirling through it. So I had some copper earrings and bracelets and I created this design for my fingernails...

I used:
OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
OPI Black Onyx
Essie Penny Talk
Studs from dollarnailart.com
Dazzle Dry Top Coat

Dazzle Dry's Night Life - A Review

Monday, December 24, 2012

I am going to review a fairly new company's Winter 2012 Collection. They are Dazzle Dry and I have to say I like their polish very much! The first reason is because they dry so quickly. They claim to last longer than traditional polish as well, but I'll have to report on that after I have worn it for a while.

The Winter 2012 Collection is called Night Life and it has some gorgeous colors in it!
Some I have seen before, some are new. (It being a new company they are likely to duplicate as they get some of the basic colors.)

Night Life contains six colors which are named (from left to right): Stolen Kiss, Secret Rendezvous, Night To Remember, Happy Hour, Anticipation, and Forbidden Passion.

I will say up front that for all of them (except the last) they covered in ONE coat. The second was just done out of habit, because this polish doesn't need it. It's probably one of the reasons why it last longer. Also, it drys to the touch in one minute and is completely dry in five minutes!

Stolen Kiss: This is a plum polish. I know my camera makes it look purple, but it is a really pretty plum. I like plum, or purple, polish so I liked this a lot. I was wondering if I have seen it before though. It is a creme polish.

Secret Rendezvous: This is a beautiful shimmer brown polish. It makes me think of a well loved teddy bear. I have a lot of brown polishes. I bet I have a duplication for this one.

Night To Remember: This polish is a creme deep blue with a little purple in it. I was afraid it was going to stain my fingers and fingernails when I took it off because the pigment was so intense, but it didn't. It is a really lovely blue.

Happy Hour: This is a stunning red with gold sparkles swirled through it. It is a joyous red, if colors can contain emotion.

Anticipation: This is a gray creme. It's the only one of the collection that didn't speak to me in some way. I just thought it needed some sparkle or something.

Forbidden Passion: This is a raisin colored polish. The first coat goes on with a purple tint to it and the second coat turns it brownish. I have seen this before in the Jessica Spicy Dreams Collection Crimson Tattoo. (It is reddish and turns brownish on the second coat.)

All Dazzle Dry colors are free of DBP, Toluene, added Formaldehyde, and Camphor. They are a vegan product. The Night Life Collection can be purchases from the Dazzle Dry website: http://www.dazzledry.com/#collections.

Guest Post - Stephanie Oblas

Thursday, December 20, 2012

Hi Lovelies! This is Stephanie from http://alittlepolish.blogspot.com. I was flattered when Lisa asked me to share my love of nails and creative manicure’s with her readers!

I wasn’t sure what type of manicure I wanted to share on Lisa’s page, since it is the Holiday season and there are a lot of holiday themed mani’s going around.  I wanted to stick with something that could be cute for not only this season, but year round, so here we have my Watercolor Wonderland Manicure. :)

Watercolor manicure’s are very easy to do since there is no right or wrong; just dab on drops of color over your base coat and dabble a little nail polish remover on top to “watercolor” it together. I love intricate looks that are easy to create.

I hope that you enjoyed this post and photos, and once again Thanks Lisa for having me as a guest blogger!

ABC Nail Art Challenge - O is for Once Upon A Time

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

"O" is for Once Upon A Time!

I bought this polish from Whimsical Nail Polish by Pam as part of her Halloween Collection and never found a use for it. It definitely came in useful this week as a part of the "ABC Nail Art Challenge"! I love the medium sized glitters. Especially purple! I have a feeling if I had done one more coat I would have almost completely covered my nail with glitter. As it is, I did two coats over OPI's Hawaiian Orchid.

Pink Wednesday - I've Been An Awful Good Girl

This is second week I have used a polish from Different Dimension and I am not sorry! The polish is great! This week I used a polish called I've Been An Awful Good Girl from her holiday collection called Santa Baby. (There is still time to order some before Christmas too.) It has pink and light purple glitter in a light pink (almost white) base. It covers completely in two coats. Most of all...I LOVE IT!!!

I broke my midde fingernail yesterday. Sorry about it being shorter than the rest!

I used:

I used:
OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
OPI Wooden Shoe Like to Know?
Ceramcoat White
Ceramcoat Burnt Umber
Ceramcoat Hydrangea Pink
Americana Poodleskirt Pink
Dazzle Dry Top Coat

China Glaze's Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away - A Review Pt. 2

Monday, December 17, 2012

Today I have the rest of the Cirque Du Soleil: World's Away Collection from China Glaze. I am doing this on Sunday and scheduling it because I am going to my grandma's funeral. She is the last of my grandparents.

This collection has some fun polishes in it. But it has some real bears too, in my opinion. I had a difficult time with a couple of them and I'll tell you why as this post continues.

The remaining six of the twelve colors that I needed to swatch were (from left to right): Hanging in the Balance, Bend Over Backwards, It's a Trap-Eze, Whirled Away, Surreal Appeal, and Water You Waiting For.

Hanging in the Balance: This is a beautiful, bright teal creme. It covers easily in two coats. But it stained my nails terribly! I don't know whether to be mad at my base coat company for allowing polish to stain my nails or at China Glaze for making a polish that stains!

Bend Over Backwards: This is a really pretty red with some shimmer in it. I would almost call it a blood red. It is opaque in two coats. If I had to choose one red from this collection I would choose Igniting Love because the color is more original.

It's a Trap-Eze: This is a multi-colored glitter polish in a milky-white base. The glitters are all of the small variety and I got this look in two coats. I liked this polish!

Whirled Away: Just as a personal preference, I dislike glitter polishes with large pieces of glitters in them. This polish has large white hexes, medium black hexes, and black bars. I finally got tired of trying to fish them out of the bottle one at a time and just pored a bunch out on a paper plate and applied them that way. It is pictured here over Hanging in the Balance.

Surreal Appeal: This is a salmon creme. It reminds me of Trout Pout by Butter London. I'll have to see if they are duplicates. It is opaque in two coats.

Water You Waiting For: This is a gorgeous glitter polish. It is blue with a hint of green and it looks a lot like water! It covers in two coats.

Here is the complete collection...

All China Glaze colors are free of DBP, Toluene and added Formaldehyde.
