China Glaze Glitz Bitz 'n Pieces - A Review

Thursday, January 31, 2013

Tonight I am swatching and reviewing the China Glaze Glitz Bitz 'n Pieces Collection. I haven't seen a glitter topper comes out of main stream polish for a while and I think it is fun! I had a good time with this collection and I'll have to find more reasons to use it!

The polishes in this collection are (from left to right): Scattered & Tattered, Glitz N Pieces, Graffiti Glitter, Bling It On, Razzle Me Dazzle Me, and Mosaic Madness.

Scattered & Tattered: This is a red and black glitter in a clear base. I put one heavy coat on and dabbed at the places that didn't get enough glitter. It when on pretty well and I liked it! I put it over Butter London's Cuppa.

Glitz N Pieces: This is the silver glitter with black glitter in it. I can see wearing this to a dance or an important party. I love this over OPI's Alpine Snow. It really gives the glitter room to shine. I used one thick coat.

Graffiti Glitter: This just looks sweet over Zoya's Neely. I didn't want the green glitter to look too Christmas-y, and this way it just looks like mint...you could eat it up!

Bling It On: The purple is my favorite. I love the combination of the purple and black glitter with Butter London's Molly-Coddled. They are two different shades of purple, but they look great together!

Razzle Me Dazzle Me: I put the pink and black glitter over Butter London's Fruit Machine.

Mosaic Madness: I like the blue and black glitter too. It reminds me of mint too. I put this glitter over Zoya's Blu.

All of the polishes in this collection had the same formula, which I liked. I used one heavy coat for all the swatches you see here.

All China Glaze colors are free of DBP, Toluene and added Formaldehyde.

Pink Wednesday - Junior Prom

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

Tonight for "Pink Wednesday" I am trying a polish from Varnish Vixen called Junior Prom. It is a topper so put it over OPI's Kiss Me On My Tulips (which was a favorite of mine when it first came out). I love them together although the lighter pink glitter does show up well in the pictures. I still think it's a great combination!

I used:
OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips
Varnish Vixen Junior Prom
Gelous Advanced Nail Gel Coat (as a top coat)

Nail Art Tuesday - Dots & Diamonds

I'm still a day behind and by the time you read this (because it is late) I'll be two days behind. Oh well, it's a cute design and worth showing late! At least I think so!

Today's design was inspired by a picture on Pinterest, but I changed it a little. I think brown and pink are pretty together. The pink is very light and airy and makes the brown pop against it. At the same time the colors are very sophisticated.

I used:
OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
OPI Over The Taupe
OPI It's A Girl!
Rhinestones from E-bay
Dazzle Dry Top Coat

Jessica 18k Gold Leaf Topper - A Review

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

It is only Monday and I am already a day behind! I'll have to catch up later in the week with a day of a couple of posts. With a job at a salon, an Etsy shop, and a blog, I sometimes can't do it all. Something has to give some days. This time it was my post...and more.

I am swatching and reviewing Jessica's 18k Gold Leaf Topper tonight. I have had it for some time, but haven't had time to get it on the schedule 'til now. I like it! But find it kind of sparse. I put a couple of coats on each of these and still felt like they could have used more. I tried dabbing on the pieces of gold and that just messed up my polish. I have heard that other gold top coats are this way too. I don't know what the answer is to getting more gold on the nail. What do you think? Could they have used more?

I layered it over OPI's Black Cherry Chutney in these pictures.

Here, in these two pictures, the undie is OPI's Vampsterdam.

Finally, I put it on top of Butter London's Gobsmacked in these two pictures.
