ABC Nail Art Challenge - Y is for Your Web or Mine?

"Y" is for Your Web or Mine?

I bought this polish with OPI's Spider-man Collection last year but never wore it. It is a gorgeous rosy-pink color and I regret that I haven't made better use of it! It makes me think of strawberry taffy! But because it has the shimmer, it's more sophisticated than that.

I used:
OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
OPI Your Web or Mine?
Dazzle Dry Top Coat

Here are the other participants in the "ABC Nail Art Challenge".
Now the code only goes through "T"...

Butter London The Starkers Collection - A Review

Butter London is one of my favorite polishes. They have yet to disappoint me. I have another small collection to share with you this afternoon. It has been on my "to do" list all month (not because I didn't want to do it, but because my month has been so full of illness)...and I'm finally getting it done. It's called The Starkers Collection, which I think is funny.

The names of the three polishes in this collection are (from left to right): Tea & Toast, Crumpet, and Shandy.

Tea & Toast: This is a dark, creme nude, but as usual with Butter London, it has a good formula and isn't streaky. It is opaque in two coats.

Crumpet: This is the shade that most matches my skin tone. It is a medium, creme nude. It is like it's sister and isn't streaky and is opaque in two coats. I liked this one a lot and would have kept it on for awhile if I hadn't been swatching. I wasn't in to nudes before I started my blog, but I like them now!

Shandy: I thought this would be my color because I have always thought of myself as someone who has light skin. In fact, I usually get the lightest/fairest color of foundation possible and it matches. But my hands must be sightly darker because Shandy didn't look good on me. It was, however, a good formula and reached opacity in two coats. It is a light, creme nude.

All in all I say this is a great collection. I can't see the need for any one person to buy the entire collection though. Just choose the color that best matches your skin color and go with that. I liked Crumpet, needless to say. The other two colors were either too dark or too light.

Alessandro International Cashmere Touch - A Review

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Recently I was contacted by a company, Alessandro International, that is making a new nail polish, Colour Code3. I was offered the opportunity to review one color of 99 they offer. I hope I get to review and swatch more because I really liked the one I had the chance to try. Emma, the woman who contacted me, said that this polish has a "new patented formula that ensures incredibly long durability, fast drying, no chipping, smooth and streak free application, and high gloss shine".

The Colour Code3 system offers a (1) a nail polish that lasts a week, (2) a gel polish that last up to three weeks, and a (3) a gel that lasts up to six weeks. I only reviewed the nail polish.

The color they sent me is called Cashmere Touch and it is a stunning taupe in a creme. It covers to opacity in one coat. The second coat is just formalities sakes. Emma was right about the smooth and streak free application too. I am a fan of brown (taupe) polish so I like this a lot.

All nail polishes are $12.00 and are available at alessandro-international.us.

Nail Art Tuesday - Rhinestone Bow

I just realized that I haven't done a "Nail Art Tuesday" for you this whole month. Something has always gotten in the way. Usually it is my health. I haven't been doing well this month. But I hope nothing else will go wrong!

Did I tell you that my cat bit me when I was trying to cut his claws? He had one that was ingrown and I'm sure it hurt him when I clipped it out so he bit me...deep. Anyway, my hand is swollen and infected and I can't type well.

Anyway...I thought it would be cool looking to create a bow out of rhinestones. I had it pictured in mind and it was so cute. But when I did it and showed my husband, he couldn't see it. I was unsure of the design then, so you'll have to tell me if it looks like a bow.

I used:
Dazzle Dry Base Coat for Natural Nails
OPI Antibleak
Rhinestones from E-bay
Dazzle Dry Top Coat

Not Too Polished Alice in Wonderland Collection - A Review

I am so excited to share this indie collection with you! It is from Not Too Polished and it's the Alice in Wonderland Collection! Now how come I didn't think of that?! It is too cute. They are all so glittery and beautiful yet the coverage it complete. I like that!

The polishes in this collection are (from left to right): Alice, White Rabbit, Cheshire Cat, Hatter, Dinah, and Queen.

Alice: Alice is a full-coverage glitter polish that is opaque in two coats. I love the light, silvery-blue color.  If I had to choose my favorite of the collection, it would be this one! This shade of blue is just beautiful!

White Rabbit: This polish is a white jelly with black, silver, and some holographic glitter in it.  It is opaque in two coats but the pictures here show it with three.

Cheshire Cat: This polish is a glitter polish in pink! It covers the fingernail in two coats. If you remember, pink is my favorite color. So of course I liked this one!

Hatter: This is a fun polish, all mixed up with colors! It has a green base with purple, blue, red, and gold glitter in it (there may be more). Opacity was achieved in two coats. I think it is very reminiscent of the Mad Hatter, don't you?

Dinah: I love this polish! I didn't think I would because I'm not a fan of orange. But it's not orange at all! It's copper, with a little bit of pink and gold glitter in it. It's another full-coverage glitter, which I love and it is opaque in two coats.

Queen: Finally, is Queen. The maker and owner of the shop let me know that this polish had  issues with some of the glitter curling but that she has since removed it. I, unfortunately, got one with the bad glitter and it doesn't look so good.

Other than the last one (which has been fixed now), I think this collection is great! I think it is a great idea and it translates into polish fabulously. My favorites are Alice and Dinah, mostly because of the colors, but also because they are full-coverage glitters.

This collection was made by Elizabeth in her Etsy Shop, Not Too Polished. You can follow her and keep up with what she is making and doing at her Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/NotTooPolished or her blog: http://nottoopolished.blogspot.com/
